Mass Effect 3 (Gameplay #19) - The Final Frontier [ENDING]
There's been a huge uproar about Mass Effect 3's ending(s), but while I would agree that the way in which the plot gets "resolved" can be characterized as clumsy, arbitrary and more than a little bit silly, I still don't see any particular reason to get *that* worked up about it. Notwithstanding the unanswered questions and the sheer abruptness of it all, at least the choice I made resulted in what I felt was a reasonably satisfying sense of closure (regardless of what one might think about the narrative framework surrounding it) and that's ultimately what matters most. The main story is over - at least for this cycle - and we can now look back at a unique game series which has never been remarkable as far as the overall plot goes but still managed to engage us via things like interesting characters, slick art design and above all an unparallelled sense of continuity over all three games. That's good enough for me, and certainly far more than I expected when playing through the interesting but flawed original Mass Effect five long years ago.
