Max Payne 3 - future data in Chapter 6 Part 1 finale
Max no longer questions his sanity but instead rolls with any weird things that happen in his game. And many weird things indeed occur when testing the future data results in Chapters 6-6, 6-7 and 6-8...
0:00 - there's a new loading trigger in Chapter 6-6 after mid-point cutscene. Activating future data rarely results in you seeing the next cutscene from neutral camera angle. At the end, Max gets stuck in an idle pose.
0:41 - A more common result is that Max is sent to face off against an invisible vehicle that is storming through the front gates. There is no target to shoot here, so there is no option but to fail this set piece. You can still hear some cutscene audio play during game over screen, and depending on when you retry, you get some new effects to happen.
In this instance I retried almost at the end of the cutscene, which can make Max spawn without a weapon. Fortunately after just one more death you get a weapon back.
1:24 - examining portraits while activating future data. You can barely see anything and are promptly crushed.
If you retry too early, you get a heavy slowdown and the game typically crashes with the image of two jeeps on the screen.
1:55 - okay, well you CAN actually win the set piece even like this, but you need to start future data as early as possible to have more time to shoot at the jeep.
Max does a glitchy leap as the vehicle re-appears to drive into a wall. He doesn't end up to the other side of the room and only one enemy pours into the room. You are also in permanent bullet time mode, slowing time to a crawl. After shooting the only thug in the room, you get bullet time cam and the game gets stuck in the camera view, preventing you from playing onward.
3:31 - moving on to Chapter 6-7. New loading trigger is activated after having shot the vehicle and leapt over the table, as the gunfight begins.
Activating future data teleports Max somewhere a bit out of the way. He is invisible and can fire at walls, wherever he is. After around 9 seconds he is teleported back in-bounds, and you might also notice that there is a long line of thugs standing in t-pose for no reason outside the building. You can also see the upcoming boss with his two minions standing there. Shooting at the passive thugs makes them bleed, but that's it.
4:37 - Leaping towards the boss or other thugs doesn't seem to do anything, but it actually knocks them over once the boss fight begins later, after you kill the remaining active thugs inside the building.
5:08 - fighting the mini-boss who is on his back and can't get up. It's easy to drop him out of bounds like this, but it doesn't help in the least.
6:05 - no matter what you do, the mini-boss will never spawn in bounds during this glitch.
7:04 - After fighting the boss like this, there is no cutscene prompt at the elevator. Instead, the door is locked and the ground makes some psychedelic patterns if you look towards it from a correct area. Then, when you retry, the elevator cutscene suddenly begins simultaneously with previous Checkpoint, meaning that enemies will keep attacking Max during the cutscene, but this is harmless. At least you don't get stuck and can proceed to next part of the level.
8:28 - Activating future data during the bullet time of shooting the last enemy, the game will combine the bullet time and the scene where the armored thug appears. Afterwards you get the same result as previously: the boss fight starts, but the boss himself is out of bounds. The elevator cutscene also starts like it should when you walk up to it.
8:46 - moving on to Chapter 6-8. The loading trigger is available as soon as this Checkpoint has started.
Activating future data during fight, Max teleports to the elevator and you'll see the elevator cutscene from Max's point of view as enemies are still shooting at him. At the point where it would transition to the start of the next level, Max just stops at his tracks and is stuck like that forever.
9:51 - doing the above with LMS active for a little added flavor.
10:08 - Activating future data during or after the bullet time of shooting last enemy, Max teleports near elevator and stands there idly as cutscene audio plays in the background. At the transition point, nothing happens. If you retry, you start Checkpoint 8 again, but now the level features the dark / smoky ambience, which looks neat at least. You are stuck after fighting the boss again since there is no trigger near the elevator to start the next cutscene. Also, dying in the smoky version of Checkpoint 8 causes the screen to go black, which is annoying...
