Max Payne 3 - new Pause-menu loophole (feat. psychedelia)
8Another year, another bizarre loophole in Max Payne 3. This time we find definitive proof that this game is in fact the 3d-version of Hotline Miami.
I was just playing this game a little bit for nostalgia when I noticed that Pause-menu can become buffered right before you retry from checkpoint. This glitches up the Pause-menu so that gameplay now moves behind it. While you can't move Max while the glitched Pause-menu is up, enemies can kill him and you can retry during Last Man Standing (normally impossible), causing some interesting results...
As the game continues, you'll notice that the color scheme is a lot more psychedelic and 80's than it used to be. Also, Max's guns act in an arbitrary way, sometimes shooting, sometimes not. Can't use painkillers. Can't get up if an enemy knocks you down (or you leap). Since you are still technically in Last Man Standing, just waiting for some tens of seconds kills Max automatically.
Some more info on how to do this glitch: basically, when the game asks you if you want to retry from last checkpoint, press 'accept' and Pause at the same time. With a certain timing (at least on PS3) the Pause-menu becomes buffered so that it automatically re-opens as soon as possible, glitching it.
I've noticed some other weird effects from this trick too. For instance, you can glitch up camera angles during cutscenes by choosing to 'resume' (or pressing Pause again) from the Pause-menu. Retrying during other unexpected times should also produce more unique results around the game... So you'll probably see some more videos of this glitch soon, this is just a quick first look.
