Mega Man X8 (Layer/Zero): No damage taken, where I'm playing through the game on Hard Mode. It's a NG+ file, so of course, I'll have all of the weapons. This is not a minimalist run, so I'm using everything at my disposal, but still remaining fair for the No Damage challenge. This is the Legacy Collection version, so all game-breaking glitches are no longer present and I'm playing Mega Man X8 glitch-free; the way it's supposed to be. Before you ask, the custom music I use will be listed below near the end of the description. Thanks for stopping by.

...If me throwing in the Chocolate Guy's voice from Spongebob wasn't obvious enough: I. HATE. THIS. FREAKIN. STAGE.

But not as much as Avalance Yeti's.

Seriously, I remember getting a take for this took A FULL OFF DAY from work (though in retrospect, that PALES in comparsion to how long I've been stuck on Yeti, but more on that Thursday...). Which is why when I DID shoot Gigabolt down in this take, I literally quoted the Chocolate Guy as I was ready to shrek him to oblivion with his weakness, no shame.

I can't even call this a ride chaser stage. I mean, "What is this?!". If it's not having Gigabolt sometimes just fly through traffic signs without blowing them up (like he's supposed to in order for you to pass unscathed) and leaving you to helpless crash into them, it's everything else wrong with this stage. I'm going to be honest with you guys and break down my nostalgia wall for a moment here: Ride Chasers are the low point of the X series for me. NONE of them are designed well (except Overdrive Ostrich, but even that has it's problems) and X8 carried on that bad design tradition and cranked it up times 10. It's cool for high speed action (which I love, don't get me wrong) and I won't lie, I REALLY enjoyed Ride Chasers as a kid in all the games, but looking back on them now from a critical standpoint, they're just TERRIBLE, especially for no damage challenge runs. Gigabolt's stage is nothing but a cluster of BS all over the place and things that are supposed to work don't work sometimes.

Gigabolt just does whatever the heck he wants. I'll elaborate more on the thing I mentioned about him just flying through stuff without blowing them up. You see, at certain points of the stage, there are several traffic signs stacked up on top of each other, and due to the FAST autoscrolling even without boosting, there's no way to actually dodge them on your own, hence needing to boost and stay on Gigabolt's tail the entire time. He rams through the signs, which gives you the chance to slip through the cracks safely. This actually wouldn't a bad design choice... IF GIGABOLT ACTUALLY OBEYED HIS OWN RULES. At random times, he'll just not even destroy them and fly through like he's a ghost. Then you've got Layer going, "Well then..." as she just rams into it with no hope. Poor thing.

Trust me, Getting no damage for this just boils down to if you're lucky enough for the game to not f**k you over. This is why when I got to Gigabolt, I just said forget finese and dropped him.

...But I'll give it one positive: It's not Avalanche Yeti.
