Good Lord I hate this lock on system.
Upon arriving to Nino Island, you can take Digger tests to advance your rank. As warned, passing the tests makes the game more difficult. The A test increases enemy defense by 50% and the S test increases it by 100% compared to the starting B rank. In exchange for the increased difficultly, the player gains 50% to 300% more zenny for defeating enemies.
That underwater segment is awful. Just awful. And it happens again, God damn it!
For the final boss, you can very reliably avoid the laser by moving to a diagonal position away from the boss and jumping diagonally over the beam the moment it fires and begins to sweep toward you. It should end the attack early. There is a variation of this attack where she fires it directly at you which I’m pretty sure is unavoidable and also possibly a bug considering.
Like with the original game, I skip the side quests as they don’t matter. I also would likely have to split the video on Youtube if I did them, which I didn’t want to do.
