Well, those mavericks won't disappear on their own, will they? First up, Storm Owl's stage.

Much like the intro stage, Storm Owl's stage is going to be about managing resources throughout. For the first half though, I wouldn't worry about refilling WE if it runs out. Usually, two attacks from Zero and one from X will knock out most enemies here. Heal up hp only when it gets to dangerously low levels.

Why? The midboss of this stage.

You'd rightly be very worried when the midboss comes with no less than SIX laser spamming eyes in tow. Honestly though, this fight is much easier than it may look if you know the trick. The main boss's gimmick? Reviving any killed off lackeys. However, it can only revive one of them at a time. As such, the best strategy is to focus on clearing out the lackeys first. With their low hp, even X can one hit kill them unless he rolls basically the lowest possible damage he can do at this level.

Once it's down to just the main boss itself? Ideally, devoting X to cleaning up the resurrected laser eyes while Zero hacks down the midboss is best. Regardless, the boss won't be able to do much once his lackeys are getting dropped the moment they're revived.

After the boss folds, you get a free full heal for the duo. Always helpful!

In the room after at the next save point & computer map, you'll notice a door off to the east. While you can walk through the wall in its direction, you'll find out that you're gonna need a Yellow Energy Bolt to unlock the door. Something to remember for later on in the game then.

After some more combat outside, you'll come upon more boss gates. This time, the main boss of this stage is behind them.

Storm Owl's a pretty typical first stage boss. Nothing fancy about his attacks that hit both characters for around 40-55 damage. Much like the intro stage boss, if you come into this with X & Zero at full WE, you can potentially kill Storm Owl just as the duo runs out of WE. If not, he'll be damn close to death.

Reward for this boss is a skill the duo is going to be using in normal battles for a good long time, Double Cyclone. Hits all enemies, effective on airborn types, costs 10 WE.

Next time, a visit to the ocean.
