This is Megaton Rainfall with OpenAL Soft's HRTF [IRC_1037 tables]. Can you believe it? A modern video game made within the last 3 years that uses the OpenAL API, and with VR capabilities no less! Megaton Rainfall is basically the best Superman game ever created, as well as the best Dragon Ball Z game and the best Doctor Manhattan game (purple schlong). You fly around a procedurally-generated universe shooting aliens in their big, obvious weak points. You're completely invulnerable, so instead of a health bar, you have a casualty meter that goes down as aliens kill civilians...or if your shots miss and hit buildings. While this concept is novel, the execution leaves a lot to be desired.
The audio in this game is actually amazing, although you'll never truly hear how good it sounds until you enable a mod that lets you blow shit up without consequences. Yeah, that's right: you need a mod to have a true sandbox experience.
Note that to get 3D audio in Megaton Rainfall, you need to replace the OpenAL32.dll in c:\Windows\SysWOW64.
