[100% upgrades (excludes Wave Beam)]

Dragoon:
This place is a NIGHTMARE, even more so when Samus battles Mother Brain. The good thing is that unlike later games, you don't actually have to kill all the Metroids in a room in order to proceed; however, this also means that the Metroids can re-spawn infinitely in one room so it is best NOT to stay too long or "move the screen" to make more appear. Everyone knows how to properly kill a Metroid in the game: Ice Beam + 5 Missiles; however there is one weird instance where one Metroid I was fighting required 6 Missiles = (???). Also is there a difference in the color of the Metroids? Or is it just me? Seems like Green is faster, and Red ones are slower (usually turns into Red after being Morph Ball Bombed).

The Rinka's (red rings in the rooms) are seriously annoying as HELL, even more than Kraid's Geega. They can appear everywhere and damage like 15 energy points each hit, and that's with the Varia Suit. The damage knockback recoil that Samus suffers makes it difficult to stay still during the long encounter in Mother Brain's room. I felt fortunate to have accumulated all the refills needed from the Metroids to be at FULL HEALTH and AMMUNITION before fighting Mother Brain and her Zebetite tubes.

Mother Brain's Zebetite tubes (which I read was her power source or life support) regenerate quick, so try not to stall or hold back when attacking them. As for Mother Brain herself, one thing to keep in mind is to NEVER drop into the lava pit under her, there is no way to jump back to the safety of the other side of the last Zebetite tube, you have to freeze a Rinka or two to jump back (be careful not to accidentally Screw Attack them). One thing to remember is that unlike her Zebetite tubes, Mother Brain doesn't regenerate, so it is best to take your time and stay behind the tube as best as possible, even if you have to dive into that side's lava pool. Freezing Rinka's before attacking is almost a necessity, and don't think about charging Samus right into Mother Brain's face to unload Missiles up front because unlike Ridley, Mother Brain has some kind of invisible barrier that damages Samus non-stop (believe me I've tried this brute force assault before), not to mention the Rinka's also continue to attack you as well. So this also makes it more important to stay behind the last Zebetite tube. The wall turrets are easy to avoid so long as Samus doesn't touch them or stand on the blue platforms. I've heard it took around 30 Missiles to defeat Mother Brain. Does it vary from this amount? Because I counted 32 Missiles for my attempt (excluding the one required to break her glass chamber). Escaping tests your jumping skills but there is more than enough time to get out quickly.

Samus:
I have ful-"FILED" my mission?!

Dragoon:
I didn't anticipate getting the 2nd best ending where Samus removes her armor to reveal her inside clothes, not down to her bikini though (also interesting to note is that Samus is a brunette, which I'm guessing was either changed later, she dyed her hair blonde or perhaps she briefly dyed her hair brunette). Most of the time I got her still in her armor. Also I wasn't aware until after this playthrough that if you continue after this ending or the bikini one, you get to play as un-armored Samus. Replaying after any ending will grant Samus all her upgrades except for Missiles and Energy Tanks Expansions. I was always under the impression that one needed the JUSTIN BAILEY code to play in this form.

Samus:
You prefer me in my armor more?

Dragoon:
Sorta... I've kinda gotten use to seeing you in it more than this.

Samus:
*smiles*

Dragoon:
Next time, we'll be taking on the Metroids in their native planet, SR388 in Metroid II: Return of Samus (Which is also another Metroid title I have rarely played).

Samus:
See You Next Mission!
