Samus’s Log: “The Bottle Ship is composed of a variety of habitats, it seems, and the Biosphere was to be my first destination. The overgrowth was foreboding, many dangers hidden in the brush. I had to be on alert at all times, though that is business as usual. The humidity is quite pervasive throughout the sector, though my Power Suit’s climate control keeps me comfortable. I should make a note to not mention it to Adam; he might not authorize its use.”

Adam’s pretty damn impatient, huh? We’re off to turn the power back on, and from there the game is starting to open up. Similar to Metroid Fusion (which this game is a prequel of sorts to), our main setting is a ship composed of many different sectors all with your standard video game themes of forest/jungle, ice and lava worlds…you know the drill. The Biosphere is our first true area, and by and large it’s not a bad place to explore. You know…if you avoid the Samus-eating plants, and the dangerous chameleon and armadillo-inspired enemies! Lethal Strike is getting a workout!

At least Lethal Strike works, whereas I find Overblast to be very picky about when it works. That or those hopping enemies have some trick to them. I am quite annoyed at them suddenly dropping down from off-screen like that. I suppose you DO have a small window to dodge them, but it IS a small window.

We’re now free to explore….to a point. As you might have noticed looking at the map…you get funneled down very specific paths throughout a lot of the game, and are always being told where to go next. For someone like me who gets lost in most of the more traditional Metroid games, I don’t exactly mind knowing where I should go next, though the game being little more than a straight line at times is a little disappointing. Take the long stretch where we fight those armadillos for example. Samus has a very clear path in front of her, and it’s basically a corridor, despite there being lots of other areas you COULD explore all around you…but you can’t, due to an invisible wall. The game does have a mixture of more open areas, as we’ll see later on, though.

Coming across a door that can only be opened by a Super Missile, we’ll have to improvise! Adam, are you sure we can’t just open it up with one? No? Ugh…fine. I wonder how the other people in the squad are getting around then! Do THEY get to use Super Missiles? But as we continue our journey we come across ANOTHER dead staff member. Another creature attacked it! DUN DUN DUUUUUN. But uh, Samus? Have you not noticed that there are enemies EVERYWHERE in the ship at this point? It’s not like there was only the one alien creature we had to contend with…

So yes, we have a presence of a “dark intelligence,” but I’m sure we’ll be fine. Onwards!

By the way, expect videos to be around twenty minutes or so from here on out. It’ll depend on the content, but honestly the game has enough stuff going on that twenty minute chunks should be full of enough interesting stuff for you dear viewers! That’s a complement! I swear!
