Let's take a dip for our next fight, taking on our first semi-aquatic monster, the Royal Ludroth! But first, my gear!

Here I'm using my Shadow Saber, a poison Sword and Shield! Sidenote, the Sword and Shield has been vastly changed in the games after this, making it a more viable weapon choice overall. Man, do I wish 4U or Generations had a console port... Oh yeah, and still in my overleveled HR Wroggi gear. No fear of poison this time though; I just think it looks cool!

Of course, the greatest issue...is finding the damn thing. Skip to 4:15 if you're just here for the fight...(Man, that's embarrassing)

The leader of the Ludroth enemies, Royal Ludroth have some annoying tricks up their sleeves. Claw swipes, rolling over, the ever-common tail whip and shooting out a variety of water projectiles, which of course produce Waterblight.

Royal Ludroth is interesting in that it can be fought in the water or on land, having different movesets for reach. In later games when water combat was taken out, they had to beef up this one's moveset to compensate!

The spongey mane the Royal Ludroth has can be broken to gain some good drops and as you can see here, you can also chop off it's tail. I would have preferred cutting it off on land, since it's harder to see in most parts of the watery areas, but I'll take it!

After the tail comes off, it didn't have much of a chance left. Funny story here: THIS was the monster that made me give up on the game WAY back when, after my initial save data was lost. It all stemmed from not wanting to fight it while it was swimming, but at the time I didn't have that strong of a weapon, so it took a while to ill it, and that meant a lot of swimming.

We'll be heading to another new locale next time!
