Metal Gear Solid is still going strong on this channel, dear gamers, now with the series' first serious attempt at portable game. With that said, sit back, relax and enjoy my playthrough of this channel's inaugurational PSP game; Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.

About Game: Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is 2006 stealth action-adventure video game developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami as PlayStation Portable-exclusive game. It is sixth game in mainline Metal Gear series and serves as a direct sequel to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater however, its status as part of the series' main canon is extremely questionable as the series' creator Hideo Kojima wasn't involved in creation of the game's story and only served as the producer due to having worked on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots at the time of this game's development and release. Due to this, majority of the series' fanbase today considers this game to be non-canon part of the series along with 1989's Snake's Revenge, 2000's MGS: Ghost Babel and both MGS: Acid games while its chronological sequel, 2010's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, is seen as the true sequel to MGS3. Upon release, this game was met with very positive reviews, having sold over 230,000 copies only in Japan within two weeks of release. Expanded version of the game known as MGS: Portable Ops Plus was released in 2007.

Story of the game is set in the late 1970, six years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 3 and follows Big Boss, former CIA operative whose successful elimination of The Boss during operation Snake Eater has garnered him a reputation of an American national hero. However, despite this, regretting his deed after learning that The Boss died in order to let the US government get the Philosophers' Legacy, Big Boss left the FOX Unit and CIA.

One day, Big Boss woke up to discover himself trapped in a cell at an unknown location. As he wakes up, he is approached by a man named Cunningham, member of FOX Unit who reveals that Big Boss is the prisoner and demands the location of the second half of the Philosophers' Legacy as the US government only acquired one half after operation Snake Eater, the information that Snake refuses to divulge. After Cunningham leaves, intending to further interrogate him later, Big Boss is called up by another prisoner stuck in a cell across from his, revealing that he managed to pry off a ventilation shaft in Snake's cell as he was placed in it before being relocated, urging Big Boss to use the shaft to escape his cell and reach nearby communications base to try and contact help via satellite uplink. He proceeds to tell Big Boss that they are located on San Hieronymo peninsula located off the Colombian coast where Soviets have secretly built a base to let them monitor US after they were forced to retreat from Cuba in 1962, also introducing himself as Roy Campbell, revealing to have been a part of the SFG unit that was sent to investigate what happened on the peninsula with everyone except for him having been massacred by FOX Unit. Once out of his cell, Big Boss heads out in order to contact help and free Campbell, managing to sneak his way past the soldiers guarding the base and reach the communications building. As he does, he manages to establish communication with Para-Medic, one of his support team members from Operation Snake Eater. She reveals that both him and his ex-commanding officer Major Zero have been charged with treason for supposedly leading FOX Unit's rebellion on San Hieronymo. Big Boss also establishes contact with Sigint who reveals that FOX Unit hijacked a secret weapon developed in the US, somehow took control over Soviet troops stationed on the peninsula and that they are blackmailing both the US and Soviet Union, latter with the public revelation of the base's existence and former with the revelation of their weapon and the fact that it has been stolen, demanding both to recognize San Hieronymo as independent entity which would create a kind of "military nation". Realizing that he will have to stop FOX Unit and find out who led the rebellion in order to clear his own and his friends' names, Snake returns to Campbell's cell, freeing him and convincing him to help him by transporting him around the base. Knowing that they won't be able to stop the rogue unit on their own, Snake and Campbell decide to start seeking out and recruiting unsatisfied soldiers within the coup forces. However, before they do so, they head into the nearby patrol base in order to gather intel on the unit's plans by covertly eavesdropping on the soldiers' conversations...
