---
This is a short example test video of CamStudio 2.0 recording in 1024 X 600 and using the Microsoft Mpeg4 Video Codec Version 2.
To compare and contrast video qualities (clarity and motion capture capabilities), file sizes, and YouTube conversion compatibility of each codec tested, four different example test videos were shot using CamStudio 2.0 (all available on my YouTube page). All videos were recorded using the default recommended video settings for each tested video codec, and all videos were recorded using the same MP3 audio compression for each, which produced a 22050Hz Stereo recording at 56kb/s. Listed in order of overall quality from highest to lowest:
Microsoft Video 1 produced the clearest video with best motion capture, and for 14 seconds of video, took up 2,399,744 bytes of disk space.

Microsoft Mpeg4 Video Codec Version 1 seemed to be tied with Microsoft Mpeg4 Video Codec Version 2 as far as video clarity and motion capture went. Microsoft Mpeg4 Video Codec Version 1, for 18 seconds of video, took up 381,952 bytes of disk space.

Microsoft Mpeg4 Video Codec Version 2, for 16 seconds of video, took up 330,240 bytes of disk space.

The CinePak Codec By Radius produced perhaps an overall CLEARER image than the Microsoft Mpeg4 Video Codecs did (yet less clear than Microsoft Video 1), however at a significant loss in motion capture, appearing as the choppiest of the four. For 14 seconds of video, its video took up 2,068,992 bytes of disk space.
