Mighty No 9 Military Base Beta
No commentary on this one, let the game speak for itself I say and the world doesn't need more folks doing cheesy voice acting for the dialogue.
Well the beta codes went out and I got one. This is some footage of it! Go easy on me still one of my first runs, second to be exact so you don't see the tutorial tips listed here but...watching you'll see how gameplay works.
The dash is pretty huge, instead of sliding now you can dash to get through the air, move around faster and absorb Xel from enemies which boosts your score, gives you temporary buffs and stops some from respawning. Also in the case of bosses you NEED to absorb their Xel to continue damaging them at times. While you can just buster some enemies down it just pays more to absorb their Xel.
Also I confess I game over'd during this run so I cut to when I finally had a decent boss battle with Mighty No 5 Battalion. He's not hard but I just need to work on my dodging. He does have an instant death move though that you clearly will notice so just don't get hit by that and watch out for what it does after too.
I believe it's also possible to get to the boss with two life stocks if you're careful, I was not careful enough. Just keep in mind with life stocks that once you die, it's gone! So use it or lose it unlike E-Tanks/Sub Tanks. You seem to get them based on score/combos or from the helper robot at times.
Also note this is the PC version played with a 360 Hori controller. I feel controllers are a much better choice than the keyboard.
Man i blame the screwlike enemies though for some deaths lol, just be careful when around instant death spikes they're known to wreck your runs, those fiends hit me into the spikes once! Lol this is one of those games were you need to practice stages/bosses definitely. That is a good thing since it's not too easy as some feared.
Game over means starting right back at the start of the stage as well. The only thing that might make the game easy is the helper robot but it is kinda random with when it'll give you extra lives.
I have enjoyed this beta thus far. The only things I'd want to change? Maybe add a unique sound effect to the boss doors, I mean did Capcom copyright the sound effect for boss doors?! :P Or at least make a new one...The gameplay is really fun and still has a challenge factor to it. The music is good. I like the ranking at the end of the stage so you could compare times. The graphics look nice as well.
Some people are ragging on the graphics but well, what can you do to make a Military Base more vibrant anyhow? lol...Need to see more stages, I expect we'll get variety and more varying areas just like Megaman games had. Also this is a Beta so all of this is still subject to change! If you don't like something you give them feedback that is the point of a Beta..
