Ingredients:
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 frozen puff pastry sheet, thawed (The inner housewife in me was so upset at my blunder.)
24 mini cocktail sausages (I used all beef sausages.)
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
Poppy seeds for topping

Lava Dip:
1 cup cayenne pepper hot sauce
1/2 cup unsalted butter
2 tablespoons white vinegar (Add more for a more tangy taste if wanted!)
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon water

1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F and cover a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
2. Sprinkle flour over a flat surface and roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to a 10-by-14-inch rectangle.
3. Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, cut the pastry into 23 equally sized rectangles. Place one sausage at the base of each pastry rectangle (long side of the rectangle up) and roll up the sausage in the pastry. Pinch the seam closed.
4. Whisk the egg and water together and brush the top of each puff pastry sausage. Sprinkle a small line of poppy seeds in the center of each top.
5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and flaky.
6. While baking, make the lava dip: Combine the hot sauce, butter, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk continually until the mixture starts to boil (about 3 minutes). Mix together the cornstarch and water in a small bowl and add the slurry into the saucepan. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and let simmer for 5 minutes or until sauce has thickened.
7. Stir, remove form heat, and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
8. Once the hoglins have finished baking, place on a platter with a small bowl of the lava dip on the side.
I do not like anything hot, however, I LOVED this lava dip. The hoglins were yummy and even though I messed up, it did cause me to have inspiration for a recipe of my own to create. Some mistakes get made and can turn into a good thing. :)
