In this video, I take a quick look at the Minecraft Pi Edition on the Gamepedia Wiki and the Raspberry Pi Foundation website before building a house in Minecraft Pi. Unfortunately, short of ambitious modding projects, it doesn't seem that there's very much that you can do with Minecraft Pi as far as gameplay is concerned. There aren't any MOB's (creatures), there isn't any cooking, crafting, or smelting allowed, many key entities and blocks are missing, the Nether and End are missing, and during my own experimentation I wasn't able to get the day/night cycle to work, either. Still, as the Raspberry Pi Foundation website, and other websites, have said, this isn't really the point. Minecraft Pi is solely intended for experimentation.


Having said all this, during my research I found that it is now possible to install the Minecraft Java Edition, arguably the most advanced version, on the Raspberry Pi 4, although my understanding is that you would want to install a fan on the Pi if you want to get the full level of performance and reliability.


In the meantime, though, here is my promised review and playthrough of Minecraft Pi Edition on the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B.
