Transport Tycoon Introduction and Playthrough
This will be the first in a series on Transport Tycoon, its sequels, and its spinoffs, as I've recently spent a lot of time experimenting with the series. My favorite so far is probably Transport Tycoon Deluxe, released in 1995, although this video takes a look at the original Transport Tycoon for 1994, in this case running in DOS. Transport Tycoon was actually a legitimate spinoff and/or sequel to Railroad Tycoon, as it was developed at Microprose by Chris Sawyer, who was an enthusiastic fan of Railroad Tycoon that pitched the concept to Sid Meier himself, supposedly receiving his endorsement. Today the game still survives for Android, iOS, and Kindle Fire, but the latest version is closer to Chris Sawyer's Locomotion from 2004. Ultimately, as part of this series I hope to play through the original Transport Tycoon (in this video), Transport Tycoon Deluxe, Locomotion, and the new Transport Tycoon mobile version. We'll see how many of the spinoffs I get around to, such as Simutrans or Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe (Open TTD).
