Mint's Shiny Pokémon Journey - Part 5 (Generation 9, Pokémon Violet)
So, after nearly 4 months, I am across the finish line with SOME of the Pokémon.
The main thing was to get the video out on Championship Sunday for Worlds for Gen 9 being done. (I really just wanted Fireworks in the Ranked match footage P: ) But I also had to edit out two matches, both were pretty bad, but I forgot to change out Hariyama’s Item from Mirror herb to Toxic Orb, and then I realized after losing one more match, even though I EV trained and IV trained the 4 Pokémon. I forgot to change their natures.
Whoops, but either way, the matches were not interesting, I fumbled and gave up for the most part. Though I did learn a Hardy choice specs Tera Fire Torkoal can OHKO a Teratalized Terapagos. So that was neat.
As for the video, a few things to talk about.
First, even though it's not really relevant, I did want to show how to make a team quickly with wiping stats, IV training, EV training, giving them moves and then making a team. Though like mentioned above, I did forget the natures and Hariyama’s item, but it's not too long of a process, but after 6 generations, they are battle ready for the modern age.
Second, I did show that the stat-reducing berries can be shoved into a Torkoal and you can get the best friend Ribbon from it. And since they were EV trained to 510 EVs, I was able to get the effort ribbon for them as well. Again, not hard, just need to make sure it's not 508 to get it.
As for the battle, it would have been SO much quicker if I remembered to change Farigiraf’s ability. That is my bad. P: I did so after the video. But GG to RON. (: Though I did realize I used essentially a Reg G team in a Reg I format for this video. Oopsie.
Lastly, the Paldea Championship Ribbon, I wanted to use the same team as ranked and bench the Kyogre I have been using for every E4 like ribbon, but Trick room isn’t every viable against that tournament in singles. But I did have Calyrex Ice Rider to back up my team if I needed it. Also to explain the weird menuing that happens there, I was out of the room checking something and mashing A and then B, its Trick room Calyrex Ice Rider with Glacial Lance, I didn't need to think too much on it. I just didn't want to pause the video.
But with all that said and done, I am really happy I am finished, but also very happy I have done this little challenge. Now I can go back to doing a few more casual gameplay things rather than a huge side project like this as I move provinces. According to Jimmy (@IronXVI) , to get a few Pokémon over the finish line took from him seeing the initial duping video on April 17 then showing me the video on April 22nd. So this took me less than 4 months to get a few Pokémon over the finish line.
Though some are still on Gen 7 and 8, I can easily do that in my own time on the side of things rather than rush to get footage done. I thought by the time I realized the first two videos of the series, that I would have easily gotten the rest of the battles done. That was horrendously wrong. I was rushed for the past 2 weeks. :x
But hope you enjoyed my little project and next week, back to something basic again, yay for classic Mega Man games. (:
