MiSTer FPGA - Gremlins: The Adventure / Commodore 64
*This game has no music or SFX!* "Silent Night" video, released at midnight on Christmas Eve.
For something more entertaining: Gremlins 2 on NES (No death): • MiSTer FPGA - Gremlins 2: The New Bat...
With the lack of sound, this is probably the most boring video I've uploaded so far, but I wanted to share a couple Gremlins games this Xmas and this one is somewhat unique.
I saw this recommended in a compilation video of Gremlins games recently, and I have to say after playing it that it really doesn't live up to the hype at all. The layout of the game is rather monotonous with repeated actions required throughout it which give the entire experience somewhat of a half-baked feeling. The only draw here is seeing some decent pixel art on the ol' C64.
The story follows somewhat faithfully to the first movie, though with some nonsensical elements thrown in like the usage of the remote control in the house when you start. The entire town is devoid of any other humans during the entire game, with only packs of wild gremlins wandering the streets and buildings. Trying to figure this one out without a guide would be maddening and I probably would have given up pretty quickly because of how a single wrong move or mistype results in death for most of the game.
Note: I'm using 5x integer scaling for this video to fill the screen better. This generally works well with C64 games.
