The 2018 Missouri game con was the first video game convention of any type I had ever attended. I was very lucky to be invited to partake as a co-host on a panel with John Riggs, met some great people, and picked up some cool gear. We were back again, the first convention we've been to twice, and this time we had the baby in tow.

Since I was a panelist, I was actually able to get into the hall or early at 9:30. I brought my gear in from the car and was absolutely floored at the line of people waiting outside to get in at the normal time. The crowd last year was amazing, and I will tell you the line this year to get in was even longer!

Before I was able to walk the show for myself, I had to prepare for my panel as I was the first one up of the day in that particular room. The theme for the panel, how to prepare your Nintendo 64 for 10 more years of awesome gaming. We talked about cleaning your system, some of the different controller options that are out there including the Brawler 64 and Tribute 64, but most importantly, we did a live RGB mod of Zach Maynard's N64 with Voultar's RGB kit. By the time we were finished, the system was wired, however, we had some slight issues with his power supply. He tried it later and thankfully it worked without a problem. We even installed a region free mod so the system can now play Japanese N64 games too!

I've been on the lookout for a couple of games lately, none too rare but I was hoping to be able to find them here at the show. ever since avengers endgame came out, I've wanted a copy of Captain America and the Avengers for the NES. It's not a game, it's not expensive either. But I've had a hard time finding it. I was lucky to find it shortly after the show started at a really good price.

I always like collecting Famicom games at shows like these, and Norm the gaming historian actually had quite a few Famicom titles. One of them that I had to pick up, Samurai Pizza Cats. It's a quirky sort of game, but everyone that I've ever talked to you that has played it has loved it.

The last game I picked up was Star Wars Rebel Assault for the Sega CD. This is a title I remember from the PC and one of the reasons why I wanted a Sega CDX back in the day. The game is complete, in amazing shape, even if the graphics don't exactly stand up to today's standards.

The final item I picked up wasn't a game, but an airbrush custom case for the Nintendo 64. I saw this last year for sale as a complete system, but I just wanted the shell so this was ideal, especially for only $20

We had a ton of fun at this year's event, and cannot wait for the dates to be announced for the 2020 show. we hope to be back as a panelist, and if not we will be back simply to attend the show, it is that much fun. if you happen to be in the St Louis area at the beginning of August, I highly recommend checking out the Missouri Game Con.
