A Mac utility called Quartz Debug allows you to see the live FPS (Frames Per Second) of onscreen actions and animations of OS X. This can be helpful and just outright interesting for performance testing of how things are drawn or rendered on a display.

You'll need a (free) developer login to Apple to be able to download the Graphics Tools package, or you can just get Xcode from the App Store. Read more at:
