Moraes: Lawyer cannot "censor" judge about number of questions
💡 WHAT'S IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
⚖ ️ Justice | Supreme Federal Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes said that it is not up to a lawyer to "censor a judge by telling him how many questions he can ask." The statement was made on Tuesday morning (September 9, 2025) during his review of the preliminary questions in the indictment of the attempted coup d'état. Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and seven others are defendants.
"The idea that the judge should be a legal fern during the trial has no connection with the adversarial system. This is an absurd claim. And it is not up to any lawyer to censor a judge by telling him how many questions he should ask," Moraes stated.
