Ezkar is closeted, so people use he/him on them since they don't know that they prefer they/them pronouns. Their parents are also never home so they do the same.
They're also a very aloof and stoic person. Not in a "oh bad boy" kind of way. In a "omg he can actually speak" kind of way. They don't talk a lot, and sometimes just straight up ignores people. Conversation and interaction is difficult for them, so they tend to avoid people as much as possible.
Lucielle was caught by Ezkar's odd way or presenting themselves. Their odd hair color, the much more casual style of clothes, and their quiet nature. She thinks they're cool for having the confidence to stand out. Ezkar on the other hand just wants to be able to relax and escape from home.
