Mother 3 - Ch. 4 - Race Against Time
0So following Flint's mental break after hearing the tragic news of his wife's death, he wakes up the next morning in a jail cell. He's released to attend his wife's funeral. Everyone is present except for Claus, who is revealed to be headed to seek revenge on the Drago that killed Hinawa.
After making some preparations, Alec tells Flint to meet him at his place. There he reveals that he suspects Claus went to go visit some friends of his, the 'Magypsies'. Following Alec's guidance, we crossed the stream by hopping on frogs and entered the weird seashell-shaped home.
What's gonna happen next? Let's find out...
CHAPTER 4 - RACE AGAINST TIME
We were warned by Alec that the Magypsies were some weird characters. Neither man nor woman and they never age too. To talk about the elephant in the room, they quite frankly look like drag queens. I mean, something tells me I can't talk about this part of the game in the state of Florida...
Anyway, make the rounds and you'll be introduced to the group. You'll find out that Claus was just there and that the Magypsies taught him a very powerful PSI technique. He then headed for Drago Plateau, but apparently left just a few moments ago. So we should be able to catch up to him.
To get there, we need to take the cave located behind the Magypsies' home. In this cave, you can only see your immediate surroundings, so it might be hard trying to get a sense of your surroundings.
The good news is: there's nothing earth-shattering in the way of treasure here, so you don't have to kill yourself exploring every corner. Alec will guide you through the cave, tell you to go north or west or whatnot. Eventually, you'll run into the pig-men again right before the cave ends.
Then you'll see them high-tail it on their UFO. Shortly after this, you will stumble upon a weapon called 'Fresh Lumber'. If you did not get the 'Better Stick' from Thomas' Bazaar, you'll want to make sure to grab this. You'll also want to transition your healing items away from Nut Bread to Beef Jerky.
It's hard since you only have Flint with inventory, so you'll have to make some tough choices about what to use or leave behind. In this area there's also a sprint bomb and running bomb. Make sure to grab these in case you need them for the upcoming boss fight.
Eventually, you'll stumble upon a baby Drago playing with one of Claus' shoes (favorite shoes lol). In this last area, you'll face tree monsters that burst into flames when you kill them. If it deals mortal damage, don't panic. Simply hold down A Button to speed through whatever post-battle dialogue.
The HP counter will eventually stop counting down, even if you're still due more damage. Then make sure to heal post-battle. It won't be much longer until you come across the other shoe. Then out from behind a large rock, will appear a reconstructed Drago!
BOSS BATTLE - Mecha-Drago (HP - 724)
No mincing words here, this guy can be tough even with the Better Stick. First thing's first though, you'll have to use the Drago Fang on him in order to deal any serious damage. Then, I used Flint's skill 'Power Smash' on it twice (after missing twice lol) for some serious damage (285 and then 326).
It didn't have much HP left after that, so just one Thunder Bomb was enough to finish it off. Note that it's fire attack can do roughly 40 damage, so try and keep your HP significantly above that. When it dies, it will announce that it's trying one 'last' attack, which should deal mortal damage. You know what to do here if it does.
After the battle ends, the Mecha-Drago will be wounded and dying. The baby Drago will show up and defend it. Flint prepares to finish off the Mecha-Drago, but Alec stops him. It appears the Mecha-Drago succumbs to the injuries and dies.
The camera pans over to a distant cliff where it is shown Claus is passed out face-down. Dialogue will scroll by providing some sort of conclusionary remarks to what's happened since the beginning of the game. Afterwards, you'll be given the chance to save.
