Anyone who has seen my channel knows that I absolutely love racing games of all kinds. When it comes to motorcycle racing games, my overall game collection is a bit anemic. I don't usually go out of my way for motorcycle racing games because they normally don't feel right. Especially sims where it seems like you can feel nothing and racing becomes a visual affair instead of feeling. Moto Racer is not at all a sim, but it is a very challenging game. Moto Racer is the only motorcycle racing game where I can really feel the tires grip and the acceleration of the bike. It just feels so right and so fun!
You'll notice that I switched camera views when I do the off-road segments of the game. This is because it is very difficult to see where you're going when your bike is constantly being pitched upward. The off-road segments are not the best part of this game. They're not bad and actually quite fun. It's just that they feel kinda thrown in and they're all pretty easy unlike the road racing. This isn't a bad thing though. The off-road segments give you time to relax before you go onto the next road racing segment which can be brutal. I had to practice quite a few times on the road tracks to get 1st place and almost settled for 2nd in the 3rd race.
The game hums at an almost constant 30 frames per second with a few tiny drops here and there. The track designs are tough but fair. This isn't the kind of game where you just mash the gas and go. You have to control your throttle and wheel pitch well in order to move through and stay ahead of the pack. Your available boost is infinite but you must use it in the right places as misuse of boost will almost always end badly. Once you learn control the game rewards you with one of the most visceral racing experiences you'll ever encounter. There's not really a ton that I can say about this game over what the already video says. This is an excellent game and should not be missed. If you're not a fan of motorcycle racing games, give this one a shot.
