My GLI Needed a NEW Steering Wheel?
9Just a little update on the GLI. She got her first oil change and a... new steering wheel? Yeah, I guess it's a common issue with these having sensors in the steering wheel that knows when you are, or aren't holding the wheel. The sensors go bad and cause warnings related to Trip Assistant (Lane Keep) since the car needs to know when you aren't holding the wheel while using these features as a safety net. The wheel was replaced under warranty free of any charge and was VW was quick to get and replace the wheel. Otherwise car has been great. I'm getting amazing fuel economy with some nighttime highway driving achieving 40.5 MPG! That's really good for a 2.0L Turbocharged engine and also more than WV officially states. It's possible the computer isn't %100 accurate on this stat but I have to say in general, even driving with a heavy foot the car seems to get good milage.
