The New RTX Doom 2 (GZDoom-RT) Running on AMD Radeon GPU!
Buy the new Doom + Doom II on Steam.
Head here for the Doom 2 Ray Traced mod.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/doom-2-ray...
Go to files and download the gzdoom-rt zip file. Uncompress the folder into your steam game folder where Doom + Doom II installed (Ultimate Doom)
You may want to update the RTGL1 render files (I did and many others say to do this too)
https://github.com/vs-shirokii/RTGL/r...
Download the zip file and uncompress it into the gzdoom-rt folder from above. You will have an RT folder in there and this zip file will also contain an RT folder. Simple move all the files from the RTGL RT folder into the gzdoom-rt's RT folder (overwrite files)
gzdoom-rt should see your Doom2 WAD file and allow you to choose the game. Doom 1 will be grayed out as it's not yet supported.
If you're on a Geforce RTX card just run the gzdoom.exe file and away you go!
But if you're on a Radeon GPU like me (has to support RT so a 6000 series or 7000 series is required!) you'll need to do the following.
First just try disabling fluid
go to the gzdoom-rt folder and make a new text file. Copy this into it...
gzdoom.exe +rt_fluid 0
save the text file as gzdoom.bat
try running the new bat file and see if it runs now.
If not keep doing this...
Go to your user Documents folder, My Games and into the GZDoom folder and create two new text files.
Copy this....
[GlobalSettings]
rt_dxgi=true
rt_fluid=false
and paste it into the first text file. Save this text file as gzdoom-rt2.ini
paste it into the second text file and save it as gzdoom-rt2.ini.firststart
Now try running the gzdoom.exe
If it still crashes like mine did download this...
https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redis...
Hit repair and reset your PC
now for one last time.... try running gzdoom.exe!
This is where it worked for me. So hopefully it works for you. If not remember you need a GPU that supports Ray Tracing and make sure you have the latest GPU drivers installed.
Good Luck!
