Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch #020, Golden Grove (3/3), Boss: Gladiataur
This is video #020 in my playthrough of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. After recruiting Sid the Seed Sprite and acquiring the Quicken Growth spell, Oliver returns to the main intersection in the central part of the Golden Grove. Remember those little mushrooms in the northern part of the intersection? If Oliver casts Quicken Growth on them, they will grow large, and he will have a shortcut back towards the Rolling Hills. Nice, huh?
Finally, Oliver takes the southern path. There are some more little mushrooms down this way (time index 1:26). A little Quicken Growth will make them grow quickly so that Oliver can head south towards the exit.
Near the end, Oliver will find a waystone (time index 4:00). You probably know what this means: an upcoming boss fight. There is also a purple chest nearby, but Oliver cannot open it yet.
After making his preparations, Oliver continues east to a clearing with an empty fountain (time index 4:48). This is supposed to be the Spring of Life, apparently, but it doesn't work if the spring is empty.
A big, ticked off guardian appears: the Gladiataur. Like the Guardian of the Woods fight, I like to stay as Oliver and nuke this monster with magic. Frostbite delivers a bit more bang for the MP than Fireball. Fortunately, blue glims seem to drop like crazy during this fight. When he prepares for Savage Swipe or Everblade, it is a good idea to Defend.
When half his HP is gone, Gladataur throws away his sword and shield. Fortunately, for a short while, he will only use physical attacks.
When Gladiataur is down to about a third of his HP, however, he will use Headlong Rush, a very strong attack. If Oliver successfully defends against this, Drippy will grab the beast's shield and bash him on the noggin. If you're really lucky, a golden glim will also drop off the beast. If Oliver grabs it and does Burning Heart, it's bye bye, beastie.
In fact, I got pretty lucky getting two golden glims in this fight.
When the battle is over, Oliver gets the Gladiataur page for his Wizard's Companion (time index 9:39). After a conversation with Drippy, Oliver casts Rejuvenate to bring the spring back to life (time index 11:49). After another event, the Eight Tale of Wonder appears in the Wizard's Companion. Very nice!
That's it for the Golden Grove, so Oliver takes the nearby exit. The Shimmering Sands are to the southeast. Before taking off, Oliver reads the Eighth Tale of Wonder: "The Shepherd-Boy."
Next up: a harrowing journey to Al Mamoon.
Thanks for watching!
