NICHE Beginner's Guide - Full version 1.0 - Genetic Crosses Explained #2 [4k]
I thought I would try out NICHE the other day and many hours later I found I was total immersed in the game. It's a genetics survival game. There is a lot of detail going on and not a lot of instructions so I figured I would make a series of videos about it.
In this episode I show a handy tool called the Punnett Square to easily see the possible outcomes of mating a female and male nichling. In this example I use the dominant gene (no horns) and recessive gene (horns). Both the male and female mother are carriers for the horns gene with a genotype of NOHORNS-horns. When two carriers are mated you get:
NOHORNS-horns x NOHORNS-horns
4 possible outcomes (each with a 1/4 chance of happening)
NOHORNS-horns
NOHORNS-horns
NOHORNS-NOHORNS
horns-horns (This baby will have horns)
After many generations you might get lucky enough to mate the NOHORNS gene out of the population and be left with just horns-horns individuals. Horns adds strength and has no downside so it's worth getting.
At the end of the episode I move the pack over to a new much larger island with more biomes to discover.
