Night Flies 2 - Game Walkthrough (all levels)
68The Nightflies are out flying about again taking in those magical balls or basically they’re just round colored light bulbs that are on the ground surrounded by a couple of things. The Nightflies can’t get these lights by themselves which is why they are helped by their friends the beetles. The game calls them beetles but they look more like ladybugs. They also have you the helper so help the Nightflies in getting back those lights onto the lamps.
Aesthetics:
Nightflies 2 uses the same art style as it did in the first game and that’s not a bad thing. Nightflies 2 uses hand drawn and cartoonish representations. There are a couple of computer generated images like the imagery used for the lights as they are animated to look bright and colorful. The background image does repeat but it’s alright as well. The layout and terrain of the levels also change but again they are needed for the level progression and the designs aren’t that bad. Finally there is only one music track playing but its good. It gives you a feel like you’re walking in the middle of the night with fireflies or perhaps Nightflies.
Gameplay:
Nightflies 2 is the same as the first game when it comes to its gameplay. It’s a 2D puzzle based game where you use the beetles and the Nightflies to complete each level. In order to complete the level, the players have to gather the colored light balls on the ground. They simply click on the ball and the Nightflies will put it back on the lamp. Once all balls are gathered, the level is completed. It sounds easy enough but it is a puzzle game so there are tricks to it. There are some light balls that can be clicked on easily as they are on the ground. There are those that are covered or blocked by other obstacles. In order to get rid of those obstacles, players will need the help of the beetles. The beetles can lift and carry those obstacles away. You will have a limited number of beetles in each level and if you used all them without doing the right solutions then the level will fail. If the light balls also fall into the pit or go off screen, then the level will also fail. Using your beetles effectively is the way to go. Press on the obstacle that you would want to remove to let your beetle take it. You can and will also need to press the direction as to where the beetle should fly off to in order for it to take the obstacles away in that direction because that is a puzzle element as well. There are also glass items that break, which also adds to the puzzle element. In some stages that are electric zappers that will kill the Nightflies. Don’t worry as Nightflies are unlimited buy you need to relocate the light balls where they Nightflies won’t be hit by them.
