Ninja Hamster Longplay (C64) [50 FPS]
Developed by Gary Thomlinson and published by CRL in 1987.
An anthropomorphic hamster fights similarly anthropomorphic assortment of animals in a round-based tournament akin to Street Fighter.
The Good:
* Music is OK but gets repetitive quickly.
* Character designs are reasonable.
The Bad:
* Everything else!
In the early fights, you can simply slug it out, but each opponent gets progressively more powerful. Eventually, you have to adopt another strategy, which involves getting a few blows in then backing off and letting yours regenerate whilst continuing to chip away at your opponent's without getting hit.
With each bout you win, a bite is taken out of your opponent's apple. Once it's eaten down to the core, you move on to the next opponent. To be honest, this just drags the game out far to long as each opponent has to be beaten 4 or 5 times.
To add insult to injury, there is a lengthy multi-load after every 2 fights and there's no ending to speak of; you beat the lobster on stage 8 and it prompts you to load the next 2 fighters and there's no more tape...
What's worse is that I owned a copy of this for real!
