So I am getting into this title, slowly but surely. Key problems: I have not been able to figure out exactly how game saves work. It seems like whenever I save, my actual restart position is somewhere behind in the timeline from where I actually saved. That may be a matter of the game save not being quite the same thing as staying overnight at the Inn. Regardless, it's confusing and non-intuitive. It has not broken my willingness to keep trying this out, because I need more reps plumbing the combat system anyway. But later in the game it could become a dealbreaker.
I'm also a bit shocked by how much damage the enemies dish out in just the tutorial mission. And I need to figure out how to restore characters when they are knocked unconscious and taken down to zero hit points. I do not think they are dead at that point, and I have seen them revived across a game save. But I need to figure out how to do this mid-mission.
Overall what is now bothering me about the JRPG design language is that there are overly verbose dialogues about sub-systems that are pretty obvious, yet precious little tutoring about systems that are much more obscure.
