Nioh. Blind playthrough part 2. [Stream VOD]
I originally intended to release these streams in 30 minute increments on my second channel (which I will likely still do in the future), but enough of you have asked for the entire stream to be made available up front. So here you are. Several hours of noob Nioh bliss!
Tachibana Muneshige was a pushover in the main mission. However, this duel was just as hard as it was in the demo. It takes me a few tries and there is some salt, but I do ultimately prevail. The Warrior of the West armor set is pretty good, especially if you're a Katana user!
My thoughts so far: I love it. It's scratching that Dark Souls/Bloodborne itch just nicely. It's familiar enough for Souls veterans to hop right in and quickly begin to learn the combat system, but different enough to not feel like a cheap clone.
The combat is fluid and varied. Even though there are only 5 weapon class (sword, dual sword, spear, axe, and kusarigama), the addition of having 3 stances in each and having separate skill trees full of unlocks in each class means that no two playthroughs will be the same.
I am going with a kusarigama as my primary weapon with axes as secondary. I will be playing with all of the weapons, but these are what I have chosen at the start.
I wouldn't consider this a Nioh walkthrough. I do have enough background in similar games to hopefully elucidate some of the more complex aspects of the game, like blacksmithing. However, I am going into this game blind, except for my experience with the demos.
Nioh (Japanese: 仁王 Hepburn: Niō?, lit. "benevolent king", usually referring to Nio) is an action role-playing game developed by Team Ninja for the PlayStation 4. It was released worldwide in February 2017, and was published by Koei Tecmo in Japan and Sony Interactive Entertainment internationally. Gameplay revolves around navigating levels and defeating monsters that have infested an area. Nioh takes place in the early 1600s during a fictionalized version of the Sengoku period, when Japan was in the midst of civil war prior to the ascension of the Tokugawa shogunate. A sailor named William, in pursuit of an enemy, arrives in Japan and is enlisted by Hattori Hanzō, servant to Tokugawa Ieyasu, in defeating yokai that are flourishing in the chaos of war.
I play a variety of games. While games like Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, and Bloodborne are my favorite games, there are often times when I want to try something new. You may have noticed videos on Necropolis, Enter the Gungeon, and Starbound in recent weeks. I have had a lot of fun making them, but sometimes, creating Let's Plays just doesn't seem to fit the channel's format.
