So, you just graduated and feel you're ready to take on the world to make the next big killer app? Congratulations!

You've just finished the tutorial level and have started at Level 1! Just like in RPG's, when you gain a level, you must apply skill points to certain abilities. The same thing goes with game development. Each skill takes time to master and level up and it's up to you to take on the grind.

In this talk James and Reece discuss their game dev process and reflect on their experiences making games. They share tips on technology, optimization, time management, project resources and dabble in marketing

James Clark

Artist/Animator/Music/Designer at HCT Games

James has wanted to make video games since playing Donkey Kong Country 2 as a kid living on the Gold Coast. He also has a passion for music and studied a Diploma of Music Technology back in 2008. In 2013, James began studying a Bachelor of Game Design at JMC Academy and graduated in 2015. During his time at JMC, James met Reece Castles and they shared the same vision of making games.

Reece Castles

Artist/Animator/Programming/Designer at HCT Games

Reece is a handsome devil who first started experimenting with game design in the CryEngine 3 engine. Obviously, he had no clue how to use it, but it was enough to peak his interest and he joined JMC academy to study Game-Design in Unity. It is here that he met another handsome (but not as handsome) fellow named James and the two formed a team! Reece has some experience using 3D modelling in Maya and Blender, but is largely in charge of the C# programming and piecing all the music and art from James into the engine to make all kinds of awesomely fun games!
