It is well known that exergames - among other behavior change apps - are often of limited effectiveness, with a person's likeliness of gaining more healthy habits from them usually less than their chances of keeping fitness-focused New Years' Resolutions. This talk explores the science behind these emergent effects, and why community engagement needs to be taken into account when designing games for good.
