So ... the obvious ... it's very similar to the Amstrad NC100. There are some major differences, but the hardware is quite similar in some respects.

I believe the DreamWriter was based on the Amstrad NC100.

The major difference ... making them incompatible and really, totally different machines ... is the Amstrad uses a Z80 and the NTS uses a V20 (NEC's enhanced 8088).

For me, however, I simply needed a donor machine for my NC100 that had some battery acid damage near the screen.

The LCDs look to be identical ... interchangeable ... which is good as my NC100's needs replacing I think. My main issue was the thin-film connector connecting the main board LCD was damaged in my NC100 ... looks to be a compatible replacement that I can use as well.

They keyboards also look interchangeable, although special function keys will be a problem.

Otherwise, the main board and ROM are not due to the different CPU architecture.
