A big thank-you to @MrWaalkman for making available the Ver. 2.0 ROM that came with his machine. My machine came with a ROM labelled "DR3 (1.03)" which does have a BASIC option but just gives a message to upgrade to the Ver. 2.0 ROM.

To get to BASIC you start in the Organiser [ORGN], then press [WP], press [6] for Others, then you can select [4] BASIC ... note below.

He has also kindly uploaded a copy of the user manual (see below).

The manual says that the BASIC is based on IBM BASIC, which means it's different to the BBC BASIC implemented on the Amstrad NC100 I guess.

To create a BASIC program (haven't compared how to do it on the NC100) you need to create a new file, type away and then store the file. You can then go into BASIC and run the program ... there doesn't appear to be an interactive implementation of BASIC.

I'm guessing that it's stored as ASCII rather then tokenised (?) and so could be uploaded/downloaded via the communication application from a bigger machine ... ?

I did find mention of a Diagnostic mode in the ROM but couldn't figure out how to trigger it.

ROM 1.03:
Diagnostic 1.03.27 (960523) by NER

ROM 2.0:
Diagnostic 1.04 (930402) by NER

(newer version, but older date ... interesting)
