Old Mimic move selection menu (Gold/Silver/Crystal JP)

Thanks to Hibiki Ganaha for this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeFV9kUtDoU
In the Japanese versions of Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal, the old Mimic move selection menu from Generation I is present in the game, unused.
What the original effect is:
The original behaviour from Generation I is that you can copy any one of the opponent's moves. The game brings up a box with a list of the opponent's moves after you use the move, and the text "WHICH TECHNIQUE?" (Japanese: どのわざを ものまねする?) appears in a message box below (English version) or to the right of it.
In Generation II, Mimic was changed to just copy the opponent's last move or fail if there was no last move.
This unused menu:
In Japanese Gold, Silver and Crystal, with the code 010111D1 (Japanese Gold) or 010166D2 (Japanese Crystal) you can force the game to bring up your moves with another box that says "どのわざを ものまねする?" (which move should be Mimicked?). You cannot back out from the menu, unlike a normally accessed fight menu. This 'unable to back out' behaviour happens when you use Mimic in Generation I.
There may be more leftover data (or the function could just be broken), because with just this code I wasn't able to access my opponent's moves, and selecting any move made my Pokémon use Struggle. At one point I was able to use a move that wasn't Struggle, I'm not sure why.
Localized equivalents:
The equivalent of this code in English Gold/Silver seems to be 01011FD1 and 010135D2 in English Crystal.
Selecting a move with this code on brings up your list of moves, but not the type and PP box which is normally north-west of it. Though there appears to be no message, the game tries to display a message in English Crystal (and probably Gold) that is dummied out with a 50h (Thanks Wack0 for this). Since the message starts at the same coordinates as the Japanese "どのわざを ものまねする?" message, BGB x=0B, y=0E, it's very well possible that this was originally the 'which move should be Mimicked?' message. The offset of the dummied out message is located at 0x3E61C in an English Crystal ROM.
Korean Pokémon Gold and Silver use a menu layout that looks just like Japanese Gold and Silver. You can force behaviour on the Korean versions like on English Gold and Silver (no indication of type or PP, no backing out) with the code 0101DCD1. No translation of the "どのわざを ものまねする?" message appears, like in the English versions.
