2,434Hey everyone! Here’s your latest roundup of what’s new in the world of AR & VR.
First up, Meta’s v74 SDK update brings some sweet new tools for developers — including thumb microgestures, improved Audio-to-Expression support, and more fine-tuned control. Speaking of dev tools, the long-awaited Passthrough Camera API is finally here in experimental form, opening the door for some wild mixed reality experiences.
Meta is also working behind the scenes to significantly reduce the cost of their AR lenses, which could be a big step toward more affordable future headsets. On the Apple side, visionOS 3.0 is rumored to be a “feature-packed” update, expected to be unveiled at WWDC this June — sounds exciting!
Over in the headset space, Google is reportedly set to acquire an ultra-low-power eye tracking startup — another sign they’re cooking up something big in XR.
Meta also announced an expansion to the Horizon Creator program to support even more builders, and in a surprising move, Niantic sold Pokémon Go to Saudi Arabia as it shifts its focus fully toward spatial AI.
