One Year Later: How NILS HÖGLANDER Went From A 2nd Round STEAL To The Most Skilled Canucks Prospect
On Day 2 of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, the Vancouver Canucks selected Nils Höglander with the 40th overall pick. This was a selection that many Canucks fans were incredibly excited for, seeing as Höglander was a guy that many projected to be a top 25 talent in the draft, who had, for some reason, slipped to the mid-second round. Nevertheless, Höglander is a guy who improved on a great draft year with the Rögle BK in the SHL, as an 18-year-old 5'9" guy playing against men.
His performance at the 2020 World Juniors was stellar for Team Sweden, scoring an incredible Zorro goal and finishing 3rd in scoring in the tournament.
Today, Höglander is pending a signing with the Vancouver Canucks due to the pending IIHF Transfer Agreement. However, the young Swede will most likely be forcing his way onto the Utica Comets next season with all the flare and style in the world.
