Open Source Facing European Regulation: What's the Plan? - OCX 2024
Moderator: Enzo Ribagnac, Eclipse Foundation Panelists: Cédric Brun, OBEO Marta Rybczynska, Eclipse Foundation Detlef Zerfowski, ETAS European Regulations such as the Cyber Resilience Act or others (e.g. AI Act, Data Act) include open source in their scope and will enter into force in the coming years or even months. For the very first time, the open source ecosystem will have to clearly comply with European law, or face legal consequences that could threaten projects and supply chains of all companies. Many questions remain open for maintainers, OSPOs, compliance or legal departments and: Is my project concerned? What should be done to comply? How should companies anticipate compliance of their products using open source?In Europe? In the world? How do foundations plan to ensure their projects can be used safely? How should foundations get support from industry and the public sector? This panel intends to give answers, helping our community to ensure certainty and sustainability of its supply chain in front of recent European laws.
