Opening 30 Minutes: I Am Fish (Xbox Series X)
0I can't tell you what I expected from a game called "I Am Fish." The game released today as a day one Xbox Game Pass title. I thought I would get some kind of goofy simulator or just a gimmicky game about swimming around as a fish. What I didn't expect was utter frustration. I don't want to sound too harsh here, but I can honestly say I've never been more quickly turned off of a game than this. Even the opening bits where you roll around in the ball were terribly boring. The physics of rolling made it obnoxious to control, but at least it was easy. I cut this video off at 30 minutes instead of an hour because I was stuck on the second level. Trying to jump my little fish over that wall for a solid 8 minutes with no clues on what I was doing wrong or if I was even supposed to be jumping was too much for me. I should have known something was up after the terrible crossing the road segment. It could have a lot to do with me being terrible at games, but this was tragic.
I Am Fish is described on Steam as follows: "I Am Fish is a charming, physics-based adventure starring four intrepid fish friends, forcibly separated from their home in a pet shop fish tank. Swim, fly, roll and chomp your way to the open ocean in a bid for freedom and to re-unite once again."
Gameplay was recorded on an Xbox Series X using an Elgato HD60S capture card.
