Outriders (demo) — part 2 — The Pyromancer
0In this episode, there's some actual action! Can you believe that? We even get to shoot!
Cutscenes are still there, and aplenty, but I don't mind, to be honest. They're cool, they add some worldbuilding, flesh out the characters a bit maybe. And I have the feeling, that we still aren't past the intro, so it being cutscene-heavy is to be expected.
We get to run from a very thoughtful anomaly, that telegraphs where it will strike with nice, visible, bright red circles on the ground, some of our companions get Thanos'd into nothingness, and we're fortunate enough to get superpowers instead of getting vaporized!
Gunplay remains satisfying, and adding some magical skills to the mix makes it even more fun. Especially with the "do X to heal" mechanic each class seems to have, but with its own twist. I gotta say, I really like it!
I'm positively surprised at how decently-sized the skill tree seems to be as well! I was expecting maybe two branches per one of our skills, with maybe 3-4 upgrades per branch, but we're getting something much nicer, going as far as specialization of each class into one of three variants!
