Overwatch: Bastion Overview & Introduction! (Abilities & Lore)

Bastion is easily one of the strongest characters of Overwatch. He does a ridiculous amount of damage, especially in his sentry mode which is what Bastion is all about. One of Basion's abilities allow him to set up and become a turret with an extremely high fire rate and an added shield.
- Configuration: Recon (LMB) - This is the mode where Bastion can walk around just like any other Hero. He can shoot his sub machine gun. It's all about getting in position in this mode.
- Reconfigure (Shift) - Hitting Shift makes Bastion a stationary sentry mode. He gets a shield with 1000 hitpoints in front of him, but most importantly he gets a gatling gun that doesn't seem to need reloading and deals insane amounts of damage.
- Self-Repair (E) - The third ability that Bastion has is self-repair. This is what makes him so sustainable. While in self repair mode he can't shoot or walk.
- Configuration: Tank (Q) - Bastion's ultimate ability allow him to configure into a Tank. This deals devastating damage to targets that are nearby.
Recon mode is mostly going to be used to cover the moment between positioning the sentry mode. Because of the low amount of bullets you have and the relatively low amount of damage you can deal in recon mode, it's not great to walk around like that all match long.
Bastion will usually be found at the back of the team. You don't really want him in front because that is where he is most vulnerable. Configuring your sentry mode in the correct positions will be absolutely crucial for playing Bastion to the fullest. Map knowledge and team work will help Bastion shine more so than any of the other Heroes in the game.
Bastion robots were originally made by humans to keep the peace in the world. However, during the Omnic Crisis the robots were turned against their human makers and they formed the bulk of the Omnic's rebel army. Bastion was damaged and started to lay dormant. He became overgrown with vines and roots and nested upon by small animals. He became a loving robot who cares for nature. At last however, Bastion's programming kicks in and he started to explore the world, realizing what the world has become.
