StarCraft 2: Safe Zerg vs Terran Build Order! (Guide)
969This video explains the thought process behind the "Two Base Mutalisk" build order in StarCraft 2 for Zerg versus Terran.
Zerg versus Terran is a match-up that has been changing a lot over time. In the most recent couple of months the two base Mutalisk style is very common for Zerg players to execute because it is almost impossible for the Terran players to do anything against it, and Zerg can stop pretty much every single all-in with the build order.
That said, the economy you get from it is weaker than that of the "standard" 6:00 (44 Supply) third base, but if you are playing on maps that don't allow for easy to take third bases or if you are not completely sure what Terran is going for this build order is extremely powerful.
The goal for this strategy is to make sure that you get all the Drones that you need on two bases before going over to unit production. Spending of Vespene Gas goes in order of Zergling Speed, Lair, Baneling Nest and Spire. There are countless variations of this build order as some focus on much earlier upgrades and a later Lair, and some focus even on things like Zergling drops before the Mutalisks.
All in all this should give you a solid strategy for Zerg versus Terran openers when you are looking to play macro focused and all-round safe.
