Pak Attack: Cold Light v1.2 (2023) [BQTN E180 | PC w/ Quakespasm]
1This pak is TheADrain's third release overall, but their first episodic release, and seems to demonstrate a surprising amount of growth from beginning to end.
The first 2 maps have some interesting ideas and platforming, but can be a bit rough around the edges - quite literally in some cases, such as when I managed to softlock by falling behind the end of Ethereal Gatehouse. The first map is fairly short; the second has enough verticality that it probably could've benefited from a few more shortcuts.
The latter 2 maps are considerably more detailed, complex, and large. I really enjoyed Shadowbrooke's setting even if I did unwittingly get myself confused once. Librum Malefactorium allows some freedom in the order you approach areas and has several cool set pieces.
Given how remarkably the maps in this pak evolved from beginning to end, it'll certainly be interesting to see what TheADrain comes up with in the future.
