Palm Oil Glut, Lower Commodity Prices Bring Relief | India Development Debate | ET Now
The aam aadmi might be likely to get some respite from the burden of high edible oil prices in the near future. According to ET NOW sources, the Central government has asked edible oil producers to reduce prices in the retail market within a week's time. The Centre has aimed at a reduction of about 10 per cent to 15 per cent, which, in turn, could bring down retail prices by Rs. 20 per litre. This latest development comes even as palm oil prices continue to slip, with Malaysian palm oil down over 40 per cent in a month. The repercussions have been seen in most FMCG companies which were upbeat in trade. We break it all down on the India Development Debate with Shankar Thakkar, Edible Oil Traders' Association and Shirish Pardeshi, Senior Analyst, FMCG, Centrum Broking. Tune in!
