Consumption stress remains intense in rural India | Sunil Duggal and Amnish Aggarwal on FMCG
5FMCG Companies have come out with their Q1FY23 operational update. Marico and GCPL both highlighted the softness in demand in Q1FY23. GCPL also highlighted that rural markets witnessed slower growth compared to urban. Marico India business volumes declined in mid-single digits. Dabur is expected to report high single digit revenue growth; mid-single digit volume growth. Dabur and GCPL margins are expected to contract due to the increase in raw material prices while Marico's operating margin are expected to expand YoY given the Copra price deflation.
