Competition Commission Likely Finds Google Abusing Its Dominance In Its Report: Sources
1The Competition Commission has readied investigation reports on the issue of market dominance abuse by Google. Two CCI reports inquiring into Google Pay and Android platform for mobile phones stand completed. Reports prima facie likely to have found evidences of abuse of dominance against Google, sources said. Competition Commission said to have found incriminating evidence in reports. Competition Commission reports finds Google violating some provisions of Competition Act. Competition Commission has called Google on August 2 for hearing on Director General’s report. Commission to hear Google’s view and then take a decision in 3 months. Google spokesperson says, “The DG’s findings do not reflect the final decision of the CCI and the submission of the investigation report is an interim procedural step. We look forward to working with the Competition Commission of India to demonstrate how Android has led to more competition and innovation, not less.”
