Let's get to the point: this boss is RIDICULOUS. While the fight is designed around you using the many piercing type attackers in the game, there's only a handful of characters who can ACTUALLY do any real damage to this boss at Challenge Level, including Eiki, Yuugi (not a piercing attacker, just very busted) and of course Patchy. Most characters can't break 100K or if they can, they usually only get 1 shot off because they need to use Gambler (and are stuck using its MP doubling skill)

"Running immediately out of MP" is a problem that actually plagues Eiki and Yuugi too, but not Patchouli, which is just one of the reasons she's so great for this fight. The other reasons are:

-She can get a Synergy boost from fielding the other SDM members.
-She can tank the boss' weaker attacks (at the start of the fight, anyway)

IIRC Eiki has no way to boost her damage (other than Subclassing) and while Yuugi has Last Fortress, that passive depends on you purposefully losing characters (and with the Mirror of Darkness' SPD and permanently increasing MAG, it's an extremely risky play)

This strategy is high risk but high reward. In the most ideal conditions, Patchy can delete this boss with 3 fully charged Silent Selenes. The drawback is that Patchy can easily die. While she can actually tank the weaker "Elemental Storm / Elemental Curse" type moves even with Gambler, she certainly can't tank the stronger attacks (like Flowing Hellfire and Freezing Mist). Even if the boss did stick to the weaker attacks, the boss' permanently increasing MAG means that Patchy will eventually start losing to the weaker attacks too.

If nothing else, the Post-Game is doin a really good job of convincing me that Patchouli is actually pretty good. I always thought she was a bit underpowered (and she still could be, I know piercing isn't as valuable in the Plus Disk content) but I do have a better understanding of how she works.

tl;dr Nazrin bad, Iku is not bad (but not good) and Alice is surprisingly okay (but is certainly not better for this fight than Patchy)
