The Phaeston is an assault rifle in Mass Effect 3 that can shoot only in automatic mode. Thanks to this and its really light construction, Phaeston is Turian infantry's weapon of choice. Each shot of this gun is tempered by kickback dampeners inside the shoulder stock. This lets the Phaeston pack more punch than other weapons of its size without sacrificing precision. One of the main strengths of this weapon is the ability to be a good helper in almost any situation. At the very beginning it can shoot 50 rounds in a row and send them accurately in the heads of your enemies from almost all distances. For what it’s worth – this weapon is great for suppressing and covering fire.

The Phaeston is found during the mission Tuchanka: Turian Platoon, next to a dead turian fairly early in the mission, between the first and second Harvester. It is purchasable from Cipritine Armory post-mission if it was missed.
With Mass Effect 3: Omega downloaded, the Phaeston is also available in the Talon outpost in Omega: Aria T'Loak beside a wall after speaking with Nyreen Kandros.

- The Phaeston is a fully automatic rifle that is heavier than the M-8 Avenger while having greater ammo capacity and rate of fire, but lighter than the M-76 Revenant while doing less damage.
- The main strength with the Phaeston is versatility: even without weapon mods it can fire 50 rounds before needing to reload. This allows the Phaeston to lay down suppressing fire for a longer period of time than the Avenger.
- Another key strength is that because of the rate of fire, it can be used at close range very effectively, and its accuracy makes it pretty effective at medium range too. At longer ranges, especially out of cover, burst firing is recommended.
- The Assault Rifle Extended Barrel and Assault Rifle Piercing Mod (or the Assault Rifle High-Velocity Barrel) help mitigate the Phaeston's low damage per shot.
- An upgraded Phaeston combines solid firepower at any range with decent ammo efficiency in a relatively lightweight package, making it a good choice for power-dependent classes to wield as their primary weapon. However, if the Citadel DLC is installed, it is made obsolete by the M-7 Lancer due to the Lancer being superior to the Phaeston in every way.
